Google Posts – Google My Business Status Update

 In SEO

Google Posts are now available to all small businesses with a Google My Business Account. Post’s were originally dubbed as “Candidate Cards” during the 2016 election. Gradually Google begun testing these to see how consumers engaged with them. They gave access to select businesses and have since released this to the entire GMB community.

This content gives companies more access to Google and push content to both search and maps results. It is available for both desktop and mobile users via iOS and Android app stores. These posts will appear typically on “brand” searches but are likely to expand their reach as Google continues to see their effectiveness. Google Posts typically appear at the top of the search results just below a branded domain.

To access Google Posts, log into your Google My Business account and the panel on the left side of your screen has a “Post” option which a pop-up window appears. You can post a picture, write 100-300 words, create an event, or add a call to action button. See the example below from Escape Pod Comics.

How to use Google Posts:
– Use this to post special promotional offers, typically similar to how you would share on Social Media
– Promote upcoming events happening at your location
– Showcase your best products and services or new arrivals
– Use the call to action for a 1-click opt-in for a news letter or buy a product from your website.
